A hill in Hawke's Bay, NZ. It was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest officially recognized place name in an English-speaking country. The name means “The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who traveled about, played his nose flute to his loved one.”


Informally, the Thais hold the record for the longest place name ever.Bangkok known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or Krung Thep for short.
